Fleas are 2-3mm long biting insects that suck blood. There are various types, e.g., bird flea, cat flea, dog flea, rabbit flea, human flea and hedgehog flea.
Signs of flea infestation
You may see the fleas moving around on your animals. Your pets may nibble or scratch themselves more than usual if they have fleas and can do this until the skin is red-raw. If you are allergic to the flea bites then your skin will become very sore and itchy too. You do not necessarily have to own pets to suffer from flea bites. There can be flea infestations from birds or nests nearby.
